If you’ve been driving for long, you’ve probably had the unfortunate experience with a roadside emergency. From a flat tire to a major accident, there are specific steps to take if you have a driving disaster.

Turn on Hazard Lights

The first thing to do in the event of a roadside emergency is to turn on your hazard lights. If you are on the road and the emergency occurs, this will alert other drivers of the peril.

Move Car off Road to Safe Place

If possible, move the vehicle and yourself to a safe place off the road. This is not only for your safety, but to prevent accidents on the road.

Call the Police

If you’ve had an accident, no matter how minor, you must call the police. Report the accident and describe the situation. Ask for medical help if there are any injuries and make sure to follow instructions of the dispatcher.
You may not need to call the police during your roadside emergency, but that doesn’t mean you won’t need help. If you have a flat tire or other car problem, call a local roadside assistance company. If you are in the Sacramento, California, area, call College Oak Towing and we will come help you out of your rough spot.
